you have a mediated settlement agreement, but no attorney.
now what?
A Mediated Settlement Agreement is not a final order in a divorce or custody matter and your final order will still need to be drafted and submitted to the court for approval in order to finalize your case and ensure that your agreement is enforceable in court.
As a mediator, I am not ethically permitted to draft your agreed orders and as an attorney, I am not ethically permitted to represent both parties, so my drafting your final documents is not an option.
However, because mistakes in your final order can be extremely costly and very time consuming, I strongly recommend that one party hire an attorney to draft the final order and all ancillary documents.
Most family law attorneys accept this type of work and you should hire any licensed Texas attorney that you are comfortable with.
